A Deeper Look at Pain, Vertigo and Allergic Responses

Published by The Doctors at Sentinel

Some people come to Sentinel Health & Wellness at the beginning of their healthcare journey. Others find us after visiting multiple specialists, undergoing tests and trying treatments that did not provide the answers or relief they needed.

We sometimes call Sentinel a “failure practice,” because we frequently work with individuals who haven’t been able to find a treatment or solution that works for them. Some have visited many different surgeons or neurologists without finding an explanation for their symptoms.

Others have been told everything looks normal even though they’re still experiencing pain, vertigo, trouble with their eyes or other concerns that interfere with daily life. These patients are often looking for a specialized approach and someone willing to take a deeper look.

Taking a Closer Look at Complex Symptoms

Pain is one of the most common reasons people visit Sentinel, but it is rarely the only concern. Patients may come to us with:

    • Chronic or recurring pain
    • Vertigo, dizziness or balance problems
    • Trouble focusing their eyes
    • Headaches
    • Muscle tension or weakness
    • Digestive discomfort
    • Seasonal or environmental allergies
    • Food-related reactions
    • Symptoms that have not improved with previous care

The body’s systems are interdependent. A person’s symptoms may involve multiple factors that are not always apparent when each concern is examined separately.

At Sentinel, we take time to listen to the full history and consider how different symptoms may be connected. Our individualized approach may incorporate chiropractic care, applied kinesiology, light manual muscle testing and other supportive techniques.

A Specialized Approach to Allergic Responses

Allergies are especially common in Georgia when that familiar cloud of pollen begins covering our cars, sidewalks and porches. However, pollen is not the only potential trigger. Some people experience allergic responses related to foods, environmental substances or even heat and cold.

Sentinel offers an allergy elimination technique, a noninvasive approach that incorporates principles borrowed from acupuncture. The technique is intended to help lower the body’s histamine response to a particular allergen.

Patients may seek this care for concerns involving:

    • Seasonal pollen
    • Environmental allergens
    • Food sensitivities and allergic responses
    • Reactions triggered by heat or cold
    • Other individual triggers

Understanding What the Technique Can and Cannot Do

This technique doesn’t change the body’s basic biology. If the body does not produce an enzyme, the technique cannot make it begin producing one. Lactose intolerance is one example. When the body doesn’t produce enough lactase, it cannot properly break down the lactose found in dairy products. This technique cannot make the body produce lactase. However, it may help lower a histamine-related response associated with certain sensitivities.

This distinction is important because an enzyme deficiency, food intolerance and immune-system allergy are not necessarily the same thing. Understanding the type of response involved helps establish appropriate expectations for care.

A Patient With a History of Shellfish Anaphylaxis

Sentinel has worked with a patient who had a history of anaphylaxis triggered by shellfish. Following allergy elimination, the patient experienced a significant change in their response. This was an encouraging outcome for that individual, but every patient and allergic response is different. One person’s experience cannot guarantee the same result for someone else.

This is designed to complement appropriate medical care. Patients with severe allergies should work closely with a qualified medical professional before reintroducing a known allergen and continue carrying prescribed epinephrine as part of their emergency plan.

Care for People Still Searching for Answers

Sentinel Health & Wellness may be a good fit for individuals who have tried several approaches but continue to live with unexplained or persistent symptoms.

We cannot promise a simple answer for every case. What we can provide is the time and attention needed to look more closely at the person as a whole. Instead of starting with a one-size-fits-all plan, we listen to what you’ve experienced, evaluate how your body is responding and develop an approach based on your individual needs.

If pain, vertigo, visual disturbances, allergies or other ongoing symptoms have left you feeling frustrated, we can take a deeper look. Contact Sentinel Health & Wellness to schedule a consultation and find out whether our specialized approach may be right for you.
